Second Thursday of the month, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Our Place, a memory café creating and sharing memories.
A ministry partnership of EdenHill and SPLC
EdenHill, a faith-based organization, provides those with dementia/Alzheimer’s and their caregivers the opportunities and skills to deal with the disease process of dementia. Our Place Memory Café provides these folks connection with their walk with Jesus and outreach to those who are searching for Him.
Our Place Memory Café has been offered at EdenHill once monthly and has grown significantly. Because there are many more folks in the Comal County area who deal with dementia and might benefit from this activity, SPLC is partnering with EdenHill to offer sanctuary, hope, and peace in this simple way. The first Memory Café offered at the SPLC chapel will be Thursday, July 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
This once-a-month afternoon activity offers a judgment free, relaxing environment for those with dementia and their caregivers by using things remembered well such as music, including favorite old hymns, patriotic tunes, and more, along with crafts, games, and other cognitively stimulating activities like line dancing, hands-on incredible edibles, corn hole and more. The mission is to send caregivers home with hope, tools to be used outside of Memory Café, and reassurance gained by knowledge and stories shared.
