The Ten Commandments… and Jesus

Think about a time when you got into trouble… when an accusation – spoken or unspoken – got hold of your conscience and wouldn’t let go.

While God’s commandments are good and holy, they are also relentlessly accusing and unforgiving. It is actually their job to be that way. They will point out clearly when you’ve landed yourself in trouble, but they cannot get you out of trouble.

The commandments cannot forgive you; that’s Jesus’ job… and he is happy to do it.

We will spend this lent under a sermon series on the 10 Commandments. It will be good and holy for us to hear them again… and Jesus will be close by to do HIS job: forgive commandment breakers like you and me. Here’s the schedule:
